I wish that I could explain to you the reason that I have decided to travel to Malawi this year. I honestly am not sure. I have a feeling that this will be life-changing. I feel that this is something that I need to do to grow closer to God and also to grow in my faith and understanding of the world I live in. I am just a guy that grew up along the Ohio River in a small West Virginia town for the first 27 years of my life. Very sheltered from a lot of the problems and concerns of the outside world. I've been in Iowa for almost 3 years now and have already been enlightened on several different subjects. What better way to get a reality check about life, about my faith, about the world I live in then to travel to Malawi and experience it first-hand.
What I am sure about is that I will be traveling with some of the most compassionate, loving, courageous people that I have ever been blessed enough to meet. This trip is only four days away and I couldn't be more unsure of what to expect. The funny thing is that I'm not nervous at all and that is because of the people that I will be traveling with. I can't wait to grow closer to this group of people through this experience.
If you read this blog entry, I just ask that you remember us in prayer over the course of the next couple weeks. Pray that each of us discovers the true meaning of why we were blessed enough to make this trip. Pray that as much as each of our lives are about to be changed, maybe we can have that same effect on just one person. Pray for a safe journey.
