Excited is a bit of an understatment...

I cannot believe that in under 24 hours I will be on a flight to Africa. It's been a long year since I first sat in on a meeting about this trip, and words cannot describe how excited I am. I also am incredibly anxious. I have no idea what I have gotten myself into, or what to expect.

I have been busy buying and collecting toys and stuffed animals to take to the children. It's all coming together very nicely in my almost packed suitcase. I also am bringing cross necklaces to hand out to people that I meet and really connect with. I think that is what I am most excited about.. meeting the people and experiencing a new culture.

I've been pretty sick these last few weeks( tonsillitis and now a sinus infection), so I am hoping that by the time I land my antibiotics will be working their magic. The timing isn't great, but better I get sick now than in Malawi.

I know this is supposed to be a life changing experience, and I am sure it will be, I just have no idea what that really even means. Hopefully in 2 weeks I'll be able to tell you all about it... One thing I do know is this is just the first chapter in what I hope to be a big part of my life. It's my dream to join the peace corps and run off and save the world. Being 17, this isn't something that I am really capable of doing yet, so I feel very blessed to be able to start my journey in Africa with a church I have been apart of for practically my whole life.

I cannot wait to tell you all about the amazing experiences I am about to have.

Much Love,
Mallory Petsche
