Square 1 – Let’s say it was your first steps as a toddler. You
learned it, were rewarded by your family, and you moved onto square 2, whatever
that was. That was probably all of us, pretty much.
Now after living many years and conquering too many squares
to count, I’m pretty confident that I can handle most anything. That’s what I've
spent my whole life working towards, right? Getting ahead? It’s always been
about setting and meeting goals, whether in the workplace or balancing it with
a great family life. So in this stage of my life I've prayed, asking how I can move
towards doing more good. I ask God what he has next in mind for me. Out of
nowhere, He picks going on a mission to Malawi. No problems with that, right?
Wrong!! Everything I know about problem solving is backwards for going to a
region where RELATIONSHIPS are #1, and not the time/goals/efficiency oriented
society I've been raised in.
Why did the Lord select me thinking I’ll be good at this,
and what in the world does He see in me to think I’ll be worthy by going on His
cause? Me? How do I fit in? If I’m not back to square 1, it’s pretty close. Although
I’m not yet sure how I fit in exactly, I absolutely trust in both my team and
God to show me what it is I’ll be needing to do, and how to do it. Whatever
that will be, I’m in, all the way.
If you’re reading this, you’re probably at least curious in
the mission itself or one or more of the folks that have signed up to give a
part of their life to go help those in need. I’m sure most of the members of
the team are also wondering at least a little bit what “square” they’re on
right now, so your support and prayers for all of us are very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance to our “prayer partners” for being another brick in the foundations we'll be needing while we’re gone.
Onto the next square…
