I cannot tell you exactly what drew me to take this journey to Malawi.  As winter set in this year, I felt a strong urge to take a step out of my comfort zone and try something new - especially with my contemplations about whether or not the Peace Corps is something I would like to pursue at some point.  I have felt a bit spiritually stagnant for while now and, as a result, I feel the need to push my faith to a new level.  I feel like, as a people, we need personal and spiritual growth to continue the path that God has personally selected for each one of us.  Without these moments of change and growth how would we discover what we were meant to do with our lives moving forward.
Mahatma Gandhi had it right in stating "Be the change that you wish to see in the world".  Together, we will experience change in the coming weeks.  Personal, spiritual, and conceptual.  Even though the mark we leave on Malawi may be small, the change that results from each consecutive trip continues to compound upon itself.  Plus, I have a sense that Malawi will leave a huge mark on us in return.  As we take this journey together, I pray that each one of us in the group receives what they are searching for because we are each going for a reason, we just may not see what the reason is yet...But hindsight is 20/20 - or at least that's what my mom keeps telling me. ;)
